Who are we?
This is us- Toby and Amanda
We met, fell in love and travelled together. We've loved building a home, where we have fostered and helped rehome over twenty dogs and cats, rehabilitated and released native wildlife while working full time jobs as an engineer and a high school teacher. Our happy place has always been in nature.
Our family finally became complete when we welcomed our two sons into our home a few years ago. The transition from crushing-couple-goals to becoming run-off-our-feet- parents happened over night. Very quickly we realized that the thing that brought about calm in our, now, frazzled and chaotic life was getting back in touch with nature.

We packed up our car, both our dogs and our kids and decided to go off grid for a weekend. Before we had set up our tent the boys had rolled around in mud puddles and gave us a good chuckle. They had the freedom to run around, get dirty and shout to their hearts content. We knew that this is what we needed in our lives.
Our dream was always to rehabilitate native wildlife and provide a safe haven for animals in need. We also always wanted to live more sustainably and educate our kids to respect and protect the natural world, through hands on experiences. After some thought, we came up with the most logical solution - buy a property we could convert into the perfect natural retreat, which is exactly what we have done- On Misty Hill |
